    Dear Miss May,
    1. According to the report, the number of kids who won’t know how to swim before they leave primary school is one of five kids won’t be able to do 50 metres or tread water for 2 minutes. In the next decade, people think the numbers will double if we don’t do anything about it.
    2. The Royal Life Saving Society wants to make school swimming compulsory, so kids will know how to swim when they leave primary school.
    3. Supporters of the idea say it would save parents hundreds of dollars sending their child to school swimming, and it would save many people’s lives.
    4. Some disadvantages of the idea are that some schools might not be able to find a swim school to do swimming lessons for the kids at, they think parents should be responsible for teaching their kids how to swim, they say school covers enough of the curriculum, and that making school swimming compulsory would take time away for other things.
    5. I make sure I listen to the swimming instructors instructions, and don’t go underwater when there’s no adult supervision.
    6. People can have swimming lessons out of school so they are prepared, they can also listen to their swimming instuctors and try their best.
    7. I think school swimming SHOULD be compulsory because it is very important to know how to swim because they might come across one day when they need to know how to swim. You will save hundreds of people’s lifes if you know how to swim so you can not only save yourself, but save someone else’s life.
